When we built the house, we knew the roof had to be installed properly to avoid leaks. And after many storms, the roof has only leaked a few drops when the wind was extremely strong and managed to push water between the roof joints. This is easily fixed with a little caulk but it hardly seems worth the effort as rare as this is.
But we have discovered that it can actually rain in the house on nice mornings!
No, not from a storm.
The humidity is fairly high here most days. But once in a while, when the conditions are just right, the morning air gets very cool after being warm most of the night. This causes the roof to cool and water to condense on the inside of the roof panels. The droplets get larger and larger until they are big enough to drip down. This indoor rain was not something we expected.
To combat this, we are going to be turning our fans on in the UP direction so they can help push the moist air off the roof at night. We normally turn only one fan on low in the DOWN direction, but that doesn't help. So maybe the UP direction on one fan will help circulate the air at the roof better.
Good grief... It is always something around here...
