It gets pretty dark in and around the house, so we have a lot of lighting.
We just installed the last of the lighting on the house. We may add more to the yard and out buildings, but for now we are done.
Many of the lights in the house hang from the ceiling, so Tina primed several 2x6 boards. She then painted them black and we hung the lights from those boards which were suspended from the ceiling by black ropes. She also learned how to wire the switches as part of this project.
I ran all of the electrical wires. Working almost 20 feet off the floor was a bit scary at first. As the project went on, it got easier to be up that high.
We like flexibility, so on the areas that have multiple lights, we used multiple switches. This lets us turn on some or all of the lights on the bar.
In the evening, we like to have some string lights turned on for mood lighting and to help us move around the house. Those were some of the first lights to go up to help us stay safe. Until the finished lighting went up, we used plug in lights. They were harsh but did the job. Now we have all these nice finished lights in place.
We need a lot of light downstairs as well. These lights are not as nice but they don't need to be. They need to be very bright so we can see at night. When you live in town, you have street lights, but out here, we have nothing so we have to provide all of our own light.
