Casa de Tortugas - Stories

What day is it?

We lose track of the days easily here. Is it because we're retired? Is it because we live in a remote area? Maybe it's a little of both.

Almost every day follows a "play it by ear" schedule. We decide whether to go to town mostly based on our needs and the weather. The day of the week doesn't mean much, except on Sundays or holidays, when some things are closed.

Each day, we look out at the weather to decide what to do around the property. If it's raining or far too hot, we don't work in the yard. We might take on a project in the bodega, or we might just have a lazy day. If the weather is nice and we're not in the mood to work, we go for a swim, either on the beach or from the boat. Sometimes we cruise a few minutes to visit the sandy beaches of the nearby islands.

It's a lovely way to live most of the time, though it can feel a bit strange to forget what day it is.

25-04-19 11:01am: I live in the middle of Manhattan and some days I have no idea what day it is; the Dr’s appointment reminders are the ones I use to keep track,😉 I partially like not remembering what day it is, worked for many, many years and the calendar was my boss, not anymore🎉 You two look great!!
