It's a lot of hard work to till the soil by hand.
Now, several months after construction on the house has been completed, I finally got the last of the left over material out of the side yard. We paid to have sand and gravel hauled up from the dock to the build site one bag at a time. They dumped each bag out onto tarps so they could use it for all the concrete work. In the end, they left a large amount when the work was done. We didn't know what to do with it or how to get it out. It didn't make sense to pay again to have it all removed.
Over the past few weeks, one shovel full at a time, we filled many bags and hauled them back down the hill to use around the dock and on our walking path. We used a few for other concrete work down by the shed.
We finally got the last of the tarps dug out of the ground and now the soil needed to be tilled so it could be re-compacted into a more smooth walking area instead of leaving it all lumpy. We don't seem to enjoy tripping over things as we walk in the yard.
