We added a window

It's really nice to be able to adjust our design when needed without having to hire someone.

We have screening on all of the doors along the front of the house and at the top all along the roof. But even with this, we found that the air gets a little stagnant up against the back wall. We had been thinking about adding a window for a while and we finally decided to go for it.

We centered the window on the back wall, just above the bed to give the maximum air flow. In case of heavy rain storms, we built a shutter that we can lower with a rope.

The first task was to cut the siding and remove the boards. These got recycled into the shutter. Framing around the window transfer the weight to the side studs. And the opening is covered with screening.

After the first couple days, we are quite happy with the effect. There is a lot more air movement in the house and this helps to keep us comfortable.
