It will still be a couple more months before the main house can be built so we decided we needed to build an exterior bathroom. This will make life on the property a lot easier while work on our smaller projects and will give workers a clean and convenient place to deal with the call of nature.
At the moment, the only water we have is a tank about 100 feet away by the solar. We don't have electricity yet, so there is no water pump, only gravity. That should be enough to fill the toilet tank, and if not we can manually fill it with buckets as needed.
Once we have a water pump we can add our sink and ultimately a shower.
Update: 6/2/2024 - We asked around for advice on who could do good tile work. We talked to several tile people, got photos of their work and then we settled on having Lincho install the tile in our outdoor shower. He came out a week ago to look at the space, and gave us a list of things to purchase along with a labor bid.
Lincho showed up with his tools and two helpers. We gave some basic instructions on how we wanted things to look then went off to work on our own projects. It took them about 9 hours from start to finish. Even though the shower area wasn't perfectly square in one corner, they managed to make the end result beautiful. We'll have Lincho and his team come back to tile the main bathroom in a couple weeks.
We didn't start using it until the 27th of June when we moved into the house. It was so nice to have one working shower.
Update: 7/27/2024 - Our upstairs shower is just about ready for us so we won't be using the outdoor shower too much any more. But we discovered that the floor gets very wet, so we added a glass block wall to keep the water in the shower.
