Tina almost stepped on a caiman!
While walking from the dock to the beach, Tina almost stepped on this caiman! This is similar to an alligator or crocodile. This one was about 3 1/2 feet long. At first we thought it might be dead as it didn't move. One of the workers was going to dispose of it, but when he touched it, it jumped and skittered away. After a bit it returned to the creek and went back into the jungle. In the 6 months we have lived here, this is the only one we have seen.
Update November 5, 2024: While working by the dock today, we saw another caiman. This time it came up on the beach and then swam around the mangroves.
